STEP-BY-STEP

1. FIND SOMEONE TO TALK WITH

Choose someone whose perspective differs from yours. It could be a friend, family member, neighbor, colleague, or someone new.

2. INVITE THEM

Reach out with curiosity and respect. Use our invitation scripts or write your own. The goal is to create a safe space for listening and sharing.

3. CHOOSE YOUR FORMAT

  • In-person meeting

  • Video or phone call

  • Written exchange (email or chat)

4. MAKE THE PLEDGE

Agree to the Constructive Conversation Pledge:

  • Listen with curiosity

  • Speak respectfully

  • Seek understanding, not agreement

5. HAVE THE CONVERSATION

Use our conversation guide if you like, or keep it freeform. Focus on sharing perspectives, asking questions, and listening deeply.

6. COUNT YOUR CONVERSATION

After the conversation, submit a short reflection or confirmation to help us track progress toward 1001 conversations in 2026. Every conversation brings us closer to the goal—and you can see your impact.

7. SHARE & INSPIRE (OPTIONAL)

Share your story, photo, certificate, or reflection to inspire others. Your conversation contributes to the movement and shows what’s possible when people choose dialogue over division.
